In the historic heart of Villedieu-les-Poêles, there are founders and dinandiers, but also a plurality of craftsmen whose installation is more recent: ceramic potters, a hatter, lantellières, a restorer of works of art, a manufacturer and restorer of clocks...
It is not uncommon to hear the chime ring at any time of the day, especially in summer. It comes from the Bell Foundry. In the workshop, a guide seen explains the processes of making the bells from the current order models: from the mold to the search for the right note through the laying of ornaments.
The name Villedieu-Les-Poêles resonates around the world, many bells have been melted at the Comille-Havard foundry in Villedieu. Many are ringing abroad today: USA, Malta, Lebanon, Wallis and Foutuna.... but also in France in many towns and villages.
